Greater Lansing Woman Magazine - Food Shoot.

Each month you can see my work in The Greater Lansing Woman Magazine. My typical shoots include 'fashion', 'home interiors', and my favorite... 'food'! This months food shoot was at Small Planet in East Lansing - we profiled the Caribbean Chicken. The best part is that the chef's always let me eat what I shoot for free! This dish was very good.

Danielle & Jeremy - Petosky, MI - 5/23/09

It's easy to understand why a couple from Toledo, Ohio would choose a location in northern Michigan to spend their wedding day - because it is gorgeous. Jeremy and Danielle were married in the Bay View Inn in Petosky, Michigan, and we had a great time. Not only did they choose an awesome location to get married, they also decided on a very playful theme for the details. Classic children's games, paper airplanes, and Jones' Soda Pop gave their day a unique and relaxed attitude that was very refreshing to photograph.

As a Photographer, it's rare that everything comes together to make what you could call "the perfect day". This wedding was as close as it has come to that in awhile. The flowers were blooming on an awesome spring day, the church had great natural light, and our photo location between wedding and reception was more than I could have ever asked for - an airport!! (the groom owned his own plane) Not to mention a really fun wedding party with tons of energy.

What a crazy day! Had to hire a second photographer for Amanda's wedding due to MSU's Final Four run to Detroit. Shot the wedding in the morning, and exceeded the speed limit to Detroit to shoot the Final Four game against UConn at Ford Field (made it with little time to spare). My good friend Jeremy helped shoot the wedding and then took over for the reception - did an awesome job BTW!! Amanda was such a fun bride, and a total trooper considering lots of unfortunate circumstances leading up to her wedding. The church had a ton of stained glass windows which made for really unique light. A day I will not soon forget!

Wedding Season in Full Swing!

So I'm not a very good blogger... I admit that. I just don't really like to talk about myself much I guess - I'm pretty boring.

But now that MSU Sports are hitting a lull, I'd like to put the focus back on weddings. So far, I've shot 3 weddings this summer, and two more in the next two weeks - so things are picking up quickly! I'd like to share some of my favorite shots from each of those weddings.

My Little Gracie Girl...

As I posted most recently, it's christmas card time, and everyone is getting photos of their little ones. Well its the same in our household - time for another photo of Gracie (as if she hasn't had enough already!). We wanted something that was casual and showed Grace being herself (happy, goofy, silly - just like her parents). Of course the moment we get the camera out and set up a light or two, she won't sit still, she won't make funny faces, and she won't look where we want her to - perfect. After a few frustrating moments, we decided to turn some music on - Wa La! It's all it took. She is a dancing and bouncing fool! The smiles and laughs poured out. A few frames later, we had a Christmas card. So, if your reading this before you get yours - sorry to spoil it for you.

Caden is the son of a couple who's wedding I recently photographed. He turned one this October so his parents wanted to make sure they had a few more memories from this milestone age. What a fun kid! He brought along his laughing Elmo to make sure there were plenty of giggles!

I just had the pleasure of photographing a good friends wedding in Chicago this past Saturday. It was as beautiful as it gets in March in the midwest, so the day was perfect, and everyone had a blast! Here are a few images from the afternoon.

Just had the pleasure of spending a couple hours with Andrew and Theresa in downtown Lansing. They have their wedding planned for fall of '08, but wanted some wintery shots for their engagements. SLIDESHOWS! - Latest Engagement Sessions

Check out these two engagement sessions from the last week - they are really cool.

The first was with Kimberly & Tom from Illinois - they are getting married on the beach in St. Joseph, MI late this summer, so we scheduled the engagement shoot in downtown St. Joe on a Sunday morning. After a little coffee we mosied around town, sat in cars, ate a little cheese cake as a crowd gatherd, and got a few shots in the meantime. Minutes after we finished up the clouds opened and dumped the rain - we cut it a bit too close!

Later in the week I met up with Stacey & Adam in East Lansing - at the Flower Gardens (very cool place). Just as we started shooting the rain began to fall, but they toughed it out and we made some great shots! Actually, some of my favorite engagement shots to date. Check it out.

Jenny & Ryan Wedding - April 21 - Kalamazoo, Michigan

Some recent images from Jenny & Ryan's wedding in Kazoo. That chapel is seriously an awesome place to shoot weddings - the windows in there offered some really amazing light. It doesn't get better than that for a springtime wedding. Thanks to the Vansolkema and Barker families for putting together such a great day. My new sample album will most definately feature this wedding.

Worked with a few photoshop techniques while editing.

New Blog

Just now starting up my new photography blog. I'll do my best to keep everyone updated on what sort of projects I've been working on lately. Most recently, I've kept busy shooting for the Lansing State Journal Monday thru Friday, with weddings filling up most of weekends. I will try and get up some images on here of my two most recent weddings - The VanSolkema's in Kalamazoo and the Tobolic's in Grand Rapids. Both weddings I've shot so far were for close friends, which make it really enjoyable.

Also recently attended Partner Con in Chicago. It is an awesome partner conference for a company called Pictage. I use Pictage for all of my web archiving, web sales, printing and album binding for the weddings that I shoot. To say the least, it was time and money well spent. I learned so much from all of the speakers - David Jay, Mike Colon, Denis Reggie, Bob Davis, Charles Bordner and Jared Bauman. I will most definately be attending again next year.

Lastly, I'm happy to announce that I just made a trip to the mac store in GR and purchased a 23" Cinema HD Display for my home office - it is incredible!! It seriously makes the images on my screen look more beautiful than before - it's so much more enjoyable to work with. You all really should get one.
